It’s these three reasons we can expect the New York Mets to win the 2022 World Series and this other one factor holding them back.

The New York Mets clinched their first playoff berth since 2016 this week. Back then, all they got was a one-game wild card that saw Madison Bumgarner shut down their offense at home.

This year is supposed to be different. The team will get more than one game in the postseason and could even earn themselves a first-round bye if they are able to hold onto the National League East lead over the Atlanta Braves.

Are the Mets winning the 2022 World Series? For these three reasons they probably will but for one pattern in Major League Baseball we could see them fall short.

1) Reason Mets will win the World Series: The starting rotation

Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer pitching in back-to-back games are unmatched. It doesn’t matter who gets the ball in game one. The Mets have a distinctive advantage over everyone else with these two aces. It’s going to be hard to beat one of them. Imagine having to do it twice!

The rotation goes deeper than this duo. Chris Bassitt has had a fine year. The yet-to-be-determined fourth starter will either be Carlos Carrasco or Taijuan Walker. Whomever it ends up being, the Mets should feel pretty secure compared to many other ball club.

Let’s also not ignore the fact that if those starters can give them seven innings in the postseason regularly, they have a phenomenal finish in place with Adam Ottavino and Edwin Diaz.

This year’s team was purposefully designed to win a World Series on the backs of their starting rotation. deGrom and Scherzer are getting paid more than some entire franchises. As long as they stay healthy and get a little help along the way, the Mets are a threat to roll all the way to a championship.
