Daniel Vogelbach’s warm beer and 3 incredible moments from Mets clinching celebration

The New York Mets clinched a playoff berth for the first time since 2016 on Monday night, and celebrated like it, as well.

Sure, Buck Showalter’s decision to take out Max Scherzer in a perfect game is a bit of a letdown, but the Mets win against the Brewers on Monday night ended with a bang — New York is back in the postseason.

The Mets last playoff appearance was an NL Wild Card game defeat back in 2016. Since then, they finished over .500 on only one occasion.

The 2021 offseason sparked an opportunity. After acquiring the likes of Francisco Lindor the year prior, Steve Cohen invested in the franchise like never before. Max Scherzer, Starling Marte and more were added to turn the Mets into a World Series-caliber team.

They’re one step closer to achieving that goal in Queens.

New York Mets clinching celebration: Everything you missed

The Mets clinched a playoff spot on Monday night, and while it wasn’t for winning the NL East just yet, New York still celebrated in style — sort of.

Here’s Daniel Vogelbach, lounging as one does with a (possibly warm) beer.

Showalter, for some reason, didn’t even know New York was about to clinch its first playoff spot in six years until the bottom of the ninth, when I presume someone woke him up to tell him.

Buck did warn the media that, despite the Mets relatively low-energy celebration, any NL East clincher would bring with it a serious party.

As for looking forward, Jacob deGrom did not claim to know what the postseason rotation would look like. However, it’d be a surprise not to see his name near the top, despite what the ace says.

I mean…how humble can one be? deGrom is arguably the best pitcher in all of baseball.

New York’s celebration was one for the books — but for some, it was a little lackluster.
