Karl-Anthony Towns urges everyone to follow COVID-19 protocol after being diagnosed with ‘nightmare’ virus
Corey Kluber is about to be a Pinstriper, as he is set to join the New York Yankees.
This imminent deal is pending a physical. If Kluber passes the physical, he will be on this third American League team in as many seasons. Prior to struggling in Arlington last year, Kluber had tremendous success as the previous ace of the Cleveland Indians. He was a three-time AL All-Star from 2016 to 2018 with the Tribe, winning the Cy Young in 2014 and for a second time in 2017.
Will the New York Yankees get the Corey Kluber of old on his new deal?
Kluber pitched one inning with the 2020 Rangers. He only managed seven starts with the 2019 Indians. Prior to that, he had been an innings eater for Cleveland, as Kluber pitched in more than 200 innings each season from 2014 to 2018. This five-year run was the peak of his pitching career. New York has to wonder how much is left in the tank for the soon-to-be 35-year-old.
The Yankees are hoping they can get one more great year out of Kluber. If he can be anything close to what he was from 2014 to 2018, the Yankees might finally have the starting rotation to get them back to the World Series. It is hard to believe, but the Bronx Bombers have not won a Fall Classic in over a decade. They are one half-a-dozen teams who can realistically win it all in 2021.
By adding Kluber, the Yankees are going for broke on their quest to win the another World Series.
